Resurrecting Herry

Check it out. It's Herry Monster!

Every now and again, the conversation topic of "Sesame Street" would come up as all great works of art and culture commonly do. However invariably I would find myself being the only one who remembered Herry Monster.

Herry was a character from the 70's and hasn't been seen on the mean streets of Sesame in a long time. He was gruff and tuff and was all about his muscles. He was an ass kicker. One time I even saw Herry eat a bicycle with Cookie monster.

Anyways, here is some proof that there was a Herry Monster at one time. Maybe you might even remember him.

Herry if you are reading this, wherever the Witness Protection Program has relocated you, I just want you to know that I remember you buddy.

Pounding the Pavement

Since being back in Canada, I've been looking for work. Well it's only been about three weeks of searching and I've even been on a couple of interviews. I turned those offers down, but that's neither here nor there.

The point is that a lot of my friends out there are going through the same times that I am right now. So let me just tell you all what I learned:
  1. Looking for a job is stressful. But most of the stress is self-imposed. Relax. Everything will work out.
  2. Enjoy the free time you have, because once you are working, you will miss it.
  3. Don't jump at the first job that comes your way. You are worth a lot more than what the other guy is telling you.
  4. Treat looking for a job as a job. That means you put in your time everyday. Sometimes just knowing that you've been doing something, gives you self-respect.
  5. Get outside. Take a walk. Exercise. Watch a movie. Treat yourself well. A positive attitude really makes all the difference.
The last thing I gotta say is never confuse "what you do" for "who you are". Whether you are working or not, doesn't decide your value as a person. We'll get through this sooner than later. That being said, feel free to lend me twenty bucks here and there ok? Thanks!

Winnipegger Takes On Toronto

So welcome to the new blog. Essentially this new blog replaces the previous one and documents some of the peculiarities of living in Toronto. This will be home for this Winnipegger for the next little while and so follow me on my journeys through Hog City.
